What the standard board does on its own
Every unit ships with a temperature control board — this is not a blank slot. On its own it runs the unit on adjustable setpoints, shows status on LED indicators, raises high/low temperature alarms, self-tests on power-up, takes a remote temperature sensor, and gives you a dry-contact trouble/temperature alarm output you can wire to anything (IOM CA2219C). The options to the right add network monitoring or hand control to your own thermostat; none of them are required for the unit to work.
Why remote monitoring
One truck roll for a thermal alarm costs more than this controller. Modbus TCP/IP lets your team monitor temperature and alarms from anywhere, and Lead-Lag pairs two units for automatic failover — if one fails, the other takes over. Critical for unmanned sites where downtime means missed SLAs.
Why SNMP
All the Modbus capabilities plus SNMP protocol preloaded at the factory. Drop-in integration with existing network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix, etc.). No field license commissioning — it just works on your existing platform.
Why BACnet
All the Modbus capabilities plus BACnet protocol preloaded at the factory. Drop-in integration with existing building automation systems (Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemens, etc.). No field license commissioning — goes straight into your BAS.
Use your own controller
For applications where you want to use your own thermostat, PLC, or even a third-party Lead-Lag controller. The $20 thermostat input hooks into our control board and hands control over to whatever system you already have. Maximum flexibility for non-standard installations.
Step 6 — Filter Assembly
Debris screen for the condenser intake
Factory-mounted bracket with a washable mesh screen over the condenser (exterior) air intake. It keeps sawdust, metal filings, insects, and other large debris off the condenser coil — essential for woodshops, manufacturing floors, quarries, and grain handling. It is not an air cleaner for your enclosure: the closed-loop design keeps cabinet air fully sealed from outside air. Rinse it out and reinstall — no replacement filters to buy.
Step 7 — Adapter / Transition Plate (Optional)
For legacy cutout compatibility
When replacing an older OEM unit with a different mounting pattern, an adapter plate bridges the gap between your existing cabinet cutout and the VoltAire unit — so you’re not fabricating a new opening. Plan on some fitting work during the swap.
